Pears wrapped in almond & chocolate filo

Ingredients

small pears 4 things
powdered sugar 220 g
water 800 g
vanilla pod 1 PC
orange zest 1 PC
filo dough 5 sheets
melted butter 70 g
almond 55 g
dark chocolate 100 g

Cooking method

  • Peel and chop the pears.
  • Pears wrapped in almond & chocolate filo
  • In a saucepan, bring to a boil water with powdered sugar and a vanilla pod (I used powdered sugar with vanilla). Add the pear slices and make sure they are covered with liquid. Reduce heat, simmer for 10 minutes until soft. Condemn in syrup. Remove the pears from the syrup, place in a colander to drain excess liquid.

  • Grind nuts and chocolate until crumbled.

  • Add 2-3 tablespoons of vanilla syrup to the orange zest in which the pears were boiled.

  • Grease a sheet of filo dough with melted butter and sprinkle first with almonds and then grated chocolate. Place another sheet on top and repeat the procedure. Do the same with the rest of the sheets, greasing them and sprinkling with almonds and chocolate.

  • Arrange the pears along the short edge of the dough, 4cm back from the border. Top with orange peel mixture. Roll up, brush with oil.

  • Place on a baking sheet. Bake in oven at 195 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cut hot using a serrated knife and serve with ice cream or cream.
