Assembling a checkerboard cake

Ingredients

chocolate sponge cake
biscuit white
chocolate-orange cream
chocolate-orange glaze on gelatin
orange syrup for impregnation
baking dish with a diameter of 22 cm

Cooking method

  • 1. Bake two biscuits (in this case, each for three eggs). Then mark each one into three circles with a width corresponding to the height of the baked biscuit (in my case, -3.5 cm) and cut out the details. Start the marking from the outside, moving towards the center of the biscuit.

  • 3. Then you can start assembling the cake

  • 4. Soak the cakes and, using a pastry bag, first fill the space between the circles with cream, and then cover the first layer of the cake with cream. I get a cream layer of about 0.5-0.7 mm

  • Place the second layer and fill in only the circular slots with cream.

  • 5. Put in the cake in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours. Then pour the icing over the cake and leave in the refrigerator overnight and decorate the cake as desired.

Note

I made a small cake (1.3 kg), so there are only three and two layers of circles. If you make a cake with a larger diameter and weight, then the number of circles can be either five or seven. And in height not only two layers, but four or six. But the width of the marking of the circles always corresponds to the height of the baked biscuit cake. I am describing only a general principle, since everyone bakes different biscuits, and the filling can be any other at your discretion.

Marinochka, the beauty ! But if you ever feel too lazy (like me) to do such cutting, then buy such a stencil - very convenient!

Larissa, Thank you! I saw a similar one, but somehow it was not ripe for the purchase. Now I will definitely get one!

It's just not real to get confused.

Uh, who can ... and each circle should not be cut horizontally? It looks like it is necessary, but in the description and in the photo I don't see

Marinochka, thanks for MK

Olenka, I am very glad that everything worked out! Thank you for your trust and a photo report! I am pleased that my humble MC was useful.

Victoria
, if you make a big cake, not into two layers, but into four or six layers, then the finished biscuits, of course, will need to be cut horizontally first. And then mark the circles based on the thickness of the resulting cakes. Start marking the circles from the outer edge.

Vika, if you are talking about the MK that Marina put up, then there is no need to cut anything horizontally. There are two biscuits. One is light and the other is dark.
Pay attention to the already assembled cake, there are also two layers.
Well, if you really need a cake with a lot of layers, then you need to cut it, as Marina wrote. But you will always have an even number of layers. Well, or there will be one biscuit with circles of different colors.
Vika, when you start doing it. then everything in the head will be organized. You will see clearly and everything will fall into place.
That's how it was with the puzzle. While the theory is on the fingers, nothing is clear. As soon as I started to do with real cakes, everything fell into place.
So go for it and you will succeed.

excellent MK! I also always do this on 4 layers of biscuit) only there is no cut, because to order))) I have never made chess for myself, but clients like it.I make with creme brulee from. but I do not mark anything, but simply stack the biscuits on top of each other, take plates-circles that are suitable in diameter, apply and cut out the circles, cutting through all four layers at once in one motion. well, then I fold it as shown in the photo.

Gulya, great way! With a certain skill, it is certainly faster and easier.

Girls, I have a son, Ochkin DR, the cakes are already in the freezer, waiting in the wings. Two whites and two with cocoa. With round everything is clear, but bad luck, they are rectangular. Is it possible for the "especially gifted" to suggest, in general, is it really possible to get a chessboard out of a rectangle?
And yet - I have them 28 * 38, how can I cut them into 3 equal parts, because it is important that the sides are the same width, right? I'm confused, help me, aaaaaa?

dopleta
Annuschka, it's easier than round! Cut lengthwise into equal strips and lay these strips in layers on top of each other in a checkerboard pattern. Well, approximately, like I have here with pancakes - https://Mcooker-enn.tomathouse.com/in...on=com_smf&topic=375019.0

Just stripes ........ damn it! And I thought it was difficult, how can I cut a rectangle in a rectangle ??? Thank you!
And as I understand it, it is necessary to lubricate the sides of the strips with a cream for coupling, and then the whole cake is already connected, in order to put the strips with a second layer, again smeared on the sides. I think I've become smarter
