Porridge

Note

Porridge is a dish made from cereals boiled in water, milk or broth. The ratio of the amount of liquid and cereal determines the consistency of the porridge - liquid, viscous or crumbly. Liquid and viscous cereals are usually consumed as independent dishes. Viscous porridge is also used for making casseroles, meatballs, cereal cutlets.

Whole grain cereals are most suitable for making crumbly porridge. They are widely used not only as an independent dish, but also as a side dish (for example, for meat dishes), fillings for pies, meat rolls, etc., as well as for stuffing poultry and piglets.

Some cereals (semolina, rice, millet) are used to prepare sweet cereals as a dessert. They are served with sweet sauce, jam, jelly, whipped cream, etc. Porridge is well absorbed by the body, is a highly nutritious product, which allows them to be widely used in baby and diet food. It is not recommended to cook porridge in an enamel pot.

Masha: rose: Today I used this recipe to make coarse oatmeal. Only milk to water 2: 2. I think the recipe is universal, the porridge really turns out to be what you need. Shteba in my eyes is directly rehabilitating about cereals, otherwise at first nothing
Masinen
And I did not use 0.3 at all, until the discussion went into the topic)) but who would have known that such porridge is gorgeous at 0.3))
zhariks
Why dilute milk with water? Can't you cook with milk alone?
Olya_
Yes, of course you can. We dilute it for other reasons.

Why dilute milk with water? Can't you cook with milk alone?
In general, I always cook with water. But in our discussions, there is always a question about milk porridge.
And for information, any cereal boils better in water than in milk. To do this, I dilute milk with water and porridge is lighter, fluffy comes out. And on the milk itself, for me it turns out a heavy porridge. That's all)
There are probably many more reasons, but these are my personal)
ElenkaM
Today I cooked millet porridge. Confused everything. Cooked 1 millet + 4 milk + 1 water. Time set 25 minutes, pressure 0.3. She stood for 7-10 minutes, then released the rest of the pressure. The porridge is excellent. The very thing.
Now you have to try, like Masha, 15 minutes. Still 10 minutes difference, a lot.
Masinen
You have more fluid per 1 mst)
15 minutes is the most it. I remember using high pressure for 20 minutes before.
ElenkaM
I'll try, Masha. My cereal was not digested and the porridge was not liquid, normal.
Masinen
I liked that at low pressure porridge turns out with a stewed shade)
True, I did not cook high with milk
ElenkaM
I cooked. It turns out to be much softer at low.
Olya_
Today we had millet porridge for breakfast. I cooked for 0.3-15 minutes. Milk to water proportions 3: 1. It turned out so thick, but very tender, if you press the porridge with a spoon, then almost semolina Millet porridge (pressure cooker Steba DD1) You can probably reduce the time.
ElenkaM
I also cooked, but according to the Machine recipe. A bit thick for my taste.Interestingly, in a ratio of 1 to 4 in 15 minutes, the cereal boiled better than in a ratio of 1 to 5 in 25 minutes. I'll try to weld 1 to 4.5.
Masinen
And I didn’t seem to come out thick, but normal), you can add a little liquid.
I like to do exactly 1 to 4)
Ol, porridge lovely sight))
Olya_
So, for 1 mst of cereals, 4 mst of liquid. Maybe because of the cereal it turned out (Mistral). But still delicious. It seems to me that Panasonic (special in porridge) is resting in comparison with Shteba.
Masinen
Yes, I usually don't keep it heated for long. As the temperature dropped to 100, I immediately release the pressure, otherwise the porridge thickens over time)
Stebs-captain
Masinen, you do not need to soak millet? They say it tastes differently? ...
Masinen
No, no need to soak)
It must be rinsed until clear water. Nothing tastes bitter)
Wallkar
Cooked 1 to 3, not bad.
JulliaCh
And my grandmother always advises to soak the grain, as the heat treatment time decreases and useful substances are preserved. Such porridge is also better absorbed by the body.
I haven't done it at Steb yet, just tomorrow I'll try it according to my recipe and unsubscribe.

P.S. Be sure to drain the water in which the grain was soaked overnight and rinse again. And the cereal, which is stored for a long time, is bitter.
taty
And the cereal, which is stored for a long time, is bitter.
this is for sure - verified.
Such croup still looks paler than usual, not cheerful yellow,
and boring white

Granny probably cooked on an ordinary stove and in an ordinary saucepan. Then these rules apply, and in Sv and MV a different approach to cooking.
Millet is poured with boiling water in order to wash out the oil that forms in the cereal. It is this oil that, when stored for a long time, gives bitterness, so it must be carefully eaten by anyone with problems with the liver and pancreas. Because of this, I always pour millet with boiling water for a few minutes, then drain it and rinse it again.
I myself love millet porridge, but because of these pouring-pouring-washing, I am too lazy to cook more often.
kolombo
Oh Masha is not real at all! The most delicious millet porridge in my life! It turned out so airy, it just melts on the tongue! I added sugar, butter and just a gorgeous porridge! Now I will always cook it! I really did without milk, purely on water. Very tasty thank you!
Masinen
kolombo, Thank you!! I am very glad that the porridge is delicious !!
I usually boil in water, and if I want milk, I can add it to the plate later))
sny
is the valve closing? cooked today ... 1 mst of millet 5 mst of milk ... the countdown was going, that is, the pan considers that the pressure has gained, but the valve has not risen ... the pressure release was waiting for up to 80 degrees ... as a result, the half-baked cereal floats in milk ... put it for 2 minutes with a pressure of 0.7, let's see what happens. what did I do wrong? why didn't the valve close and the porridge wasn't cooked?
Masinen
sny, you need to put more time on 0.3. Sometimes the valve does not have time to rise.
sny
I'll try to put it on for 20 minutes next time, how do you think it will cook?
Masinen
Natasha, I do not cook anything for 0.3 at all. I do everything at 0.7))
sny
Quote: Masinen
We turn on the Porridge mode pressure 0.3 time 15 minutes
well, just as in the recipe it was so and did ... but at 0.7 for how many minutes to set?
Masinen
I put the millet for 15 minutes and then wait for the pressure release.

We need to fix it in the recipe. Tk, not everyone can cook by 0.3.
sny
and from experience it is better to increase the pressure and decrease the time, or increase the time by 0.3?
Masinen
Natasha, if by 0.3 does not have time to cook in 15 minutes, then you need to increase the time.
And what is better, I don't even know. As you like.
sny
then I will train)))
kolombo
At 0.3 everything works out great for me. The pressure builds up, the valve closes, the countdown goes on - everything works fine. And this porridge turns out great. I cook it for myself every evening. 0.3 for 15 minutes.
Masinen
kolombo, what a score))
And there are some Shtebs for which 0.3 does not always work
Therefore, I advise, if suddenly this happens, then go to 0.7 or add time)
Olka D
Mash, but I can't make friends with 0.3, I'm half-baked all the time, if I give the shte a chance, then put it on for 20-25 minutes? The valve rises if - the pressure has accumulated, but the lid has not closed - I open it and press it very tightly - it works immediately. They also cook in soup 0.3. How do you advise?
kolombo
Olka D, how is it that your valve does not rise? Here begins a hiss - and then what? Chtoli hisses all the time? Have you tried to rinse it, for example, move it back and forth or something like that? Also check your silicone gasket so that it is clean, that it stands well, so that steam does not pour out from under the lid, etc. Everything should work. And the lid should lock.
After a short hiss, the valve should bounce up and block the cap. After some more short time, the countdown begins.

It is useless to increase the time if you can't get anything from 0.3. Just then don't use 0.3, cook for 0.7 and that's it. 0.3 in the staff is a kind of "nice addition" for a number of cases. Otherwise, 0.7 can be used and is not steamed. (Masha won’t use 0.3 at all).

Although personally I do not really understand how everything works for 0.7, but not for 0.3 ... There the principle of operation is banal in theory ... there is nothing to break down
Florichka
I also cook porridge for 03 and 15 minutes. Everything is alright. I cook oatmeal, rice. Freshly mix of rice and corn grits.
Olka D
kolombo, I have exactly one month for the stem, 0.7 hiss, puffs, etc. - the valve rises and the lid is blocked, and 0.3 every other time, when the time counts down and the pressure of 0.3 is displayed, it is not necessary that the lid is blocked, so I do the procedure described above.
It's just, in fact, I'm not worried, but they praise the porridge by 0.3 so much that I still want the result (for comparison))
sny
So I also read about the result by 0.3 ... so my lid did not lock even when I pressed it, as was advised somewhere. The saucepan is only a week (((I was upset about something.
Olka D
And I still cooked porridge, though for 0.7 porridge - 10 minutes, thanks Masha for the recipe, however, she also changed a little 1: 4 (2 - milk, 2 - water). Delicious, airy. You can put it for 7-8 minutes))

Yarinka
