Watermelon Look- Alike Raisin Bread

Ingredients

Flour 320gr.
Egg 1
Dry yeast 3/4 tsp
Butter 50g.
Salt 1/2 tsp
Sugar 20-30 gr.
Milk 160 ml.
Raisins 3/4 measuring cup
Food coloring Red
Food coloring Green

Cooking method

  • 1. Place all ingredients in a bowl except for the butter and raisins. Knead until a dough forms. Add butter and knead the dough until firm and smooth.
  • 2. Divide the dough into 3 parts, 1/2 for red (about 300 g), ¼ green (about 150 g), and the remaining 1/4 (about 150 g) natural (no color added).
  • 3. Add red food coloring to the largest portion of the dough and knead until smooth. Add 3/4 cup pf raisins to the mixture, knead until the raisins are evenly distributed in the dough. Transfer the resulting mass to a container lightly greased with vegetable oil, cover it with plastic wrap and place in a warm place to rise until it doubles in volume (about 45 - 60 minutes).
  • 4. Add green food coloring to the next 1/2 portion of the dough. Stir evenly until completely colored. Cover with plastic wrap and let the dough rise until it expands in volume for at least 45-60 minutes.
  • 5. After the two colored dough pieces have risen, remove the red colored dough on the table. Lightly flour and rinse to remove air bubbles. Shape the prepared dough into a cylinder. The length of this cylinder must match the length of the bread pan.
  • 6. Roll out the uncolored dough with a rolling pin until there is enough layer to completely cover the red dough piece. Brush some milk onto the white dough and then wrap this layer around the middle piece. Make sure the red dough is completely covered. Seal the seams by stapling them securely by pinching the edges.
  • 7. Roll out the remaining green dough piece until it is large enough to completely cover the previous layer of dough on the cylinder-shaped piece of future bread. Like the previous layer, brush it with milk. Wrap this layer completely over the white layer of the workpiece cylinder. Repeat the process to seal the edges and seams. Grease a baking dish with vegetable oil and place the formed loaf in it. Cover with plastic wrap and leave to rise for 60 minutes in a warm place.
  • 8. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees C for 35 to 38 minutes.
  • 9. Remove the bread from the oven and from the mold, immediately placing it on the table to cool.

Very colorful and amazing bread! I took it to bookmarks (my husband has a birthday in winter - I will kill the guests with a watermelon ...)
Andre
If it were not for participation in the competition, I probably would not have looked for similar recipes in non-Runet spaces. I'll try to repeat this masterpiece tonight
Piano
I wish you successful execution and look forward to the photo!

Andre, awesome! Very beautiful, even brighter than the original. I will root for you. So that you ice cream - to the watermelon)

HIGHLY!
From the design of the post, I especially note the cutting board in the form of a huge red corn.
This detail gives even more surrealism to this work of culinary and the reader involuntarily constantly controls himself with the question: Is corn, like bread, is not a watermelon either?
Then you wake up. Correcting yourself:
kukruza is butchery.
the green ball is bread.
Watermelon is bread.... God, what have I smoked?
The post claims gold in the nomination - the brightest unexpected dish and its creation in the atmosphere of the Dutch Coffee Shop!

Somewhere I have already seen baked goods in the form of parts of a human body, very realistic ... well, that ... anything can be ... this idea is worth thinking about

Great!
Only I didn’t understand, did you bake it in a mold or not?

No, on a regular baking sheet

Beautiful bread!
Thank you! I think that in the future it is possible, through experiments, to achieve better results. For example, replacing raisins with slices of olives. Inspired by the result of the "Italian Bread Bowl" recipe, I was determined to give the bread-watermelon the shape of a ball, but at the last moment I was stopped by the desire not to risk my appearance in case of failure and to complete the execution of this original recipe as soon as possible :)

Simply, in the recipe you write about the baking dish, and the appearance speaks volumes.

Andre, the bread turned out to be very cute. And there are watermelons of this oval shape, not round. So everything is correct.

The recipe, according to the terms of the competition, was taken from English-language resources and was translated by me almost literally. I have commented on some changes in the recipe and technological process below. Indeed, I did not indicate that I used a baking sheet instead of a mold. You noticed that, which speaks volumes about your experience. Thank you for your attention.

No more, no less .. well, except that the amount of raisins can change that.

We can say that it turned out to be an average baking. The quality and quantity of raisins also affects the taste of the final product.

What a beauty! Such bread will obviously warm both with its taste and bright colors on cold autumn evenings.

If it becomes too "hot", the bright color can be "reduced" by introducing a smaller amount of coloring components

It won't!
Taking into account the rain and cloudiness, the level of serotonin has already dropped nowhere lower, there is no sun ...
So bright colors are the very thing! And if it also tastes good!
CurlySue
Cool bread. I'll have to try it somehow.

Yes, I personally baked this bread, but the author of the recipe is generally an English cook, I posted my MK on the network, apparently they took it away ..
I thought it was impossible to publish similar recipes, so I just posted a photo in this thread
