Herring oil

Herring oil

Ingredients

Herring (any), you can trim, leftovers 100 g
Butter 150 g

Cooking method

  • It's very simple. It seems that no one has exhibited this yet, in any case, the search engine has not shown it.
  • In our house (and not only here, of course) they love herring. And always with the herring at the end there is some unfortunate lonely tail that no one wants. At some point, I remembered a wonderful product from my childhood and adolescence called "herring oil" (I don't know if it is sold elsewhere, we definitely don't have it). And she simply twisted several such orphaned pieces of herring with butter in a meat grinder, mixed - and went with a bang, better than the herring itself.
  • / 64fc818942d84ab98d84768a65a79ade]Herring oil
  • Now I collect all sorts of ponytails, ugly pieces from any herring, smoked and frozen. And sometimes too salty herring will come across - there it too. Of course I clean bones and skin, only "meat". Oil from the refrigerator, I twist it in a meat grinder, the old fashioned way. Although, probably, it is possible in a blender, or something else - it doesn't matter. It is important that you get a very tasty spread on bread - and if you still have homemade rye - um! The proportions of herring oil depend on the salinity of the herring and your taste.

Time for preparing:

20 minutes, 10 of them for washing the meat grinder

Ira, so wanted with black bread !!! 🔗 🔗 🔗

No, no bones, of course! Before I put it in the herring, I clean it from the skin and from the bones. And I peel the smoked one before twisting. Only "meat".
Thank you, I didn't think it might be incomprehensible. I'll add it to the recipe.

So otzh ... sit, pick the herring, and the oil once ... and ate. Especially if there are two eternally hungry men in the house.

Maybe Iwashi ... no, it was a very fatty fish then, but delicious infection..
By the way, in our time, I just did not see Iwasi.

Delicious! What is sold in our area under the name "Herring Oil" is actually a spread based on some fats. And this recipe is real GRASS OIL! Thanks for reminding me! Will do!!!!

And I pick it anyway, in the sense of cleaning it before putting it on the table. By the way, I had to endure a struggle with my husband, for whom herring is an unpeeled product, together with the guts and skin, preferably on the newspaper. So he tastes good! I only recently resigned myself after I offered him the skin and entrails (and the newspaper) as a separate dish

By the way, it is not necessary to clean it so thoroughly, from each bone, only from the largest ones. They are not felt when ground.

In our time, Iwasi was not seen by YOU ...

If I'm not mistaken, Iwashi was a purely nomenclature product, and did not reach mere mortals. So I'm kayetsya ... In any case, I heard this word uttered ... so, dreamily. I have already tried it here, and, frankly, I still prefer ordinary herring.

So otzh ... sit, pick the herring

By the way, Tanyusha! (I’ve already gone to bed, but suddenly it dawned on me!) and why "pick"? I clean the herring like this: first I cut off the head, then with a sharp knife I cut it along the length and take out the insides. Then I remove the skin with a tape, first on one side, then on the other. And then, starting from the top to the tail, I separate the backs, first on one side, then on the other, entirely. So, when you remove the back from the ridge, the bones mostly remain, and the meat is removed. Then only a few bones need to be pulled out and that's it. How do you clean?

Nooo, in my time there was a lot of willows, but there was no ordinary herring. By the way, recently we again have Iwashi, expensive. I bought it and could not eat, it was somehow tasteless, threw it away. I did not understand what was the matter. I love herring very much

Well, that means I mixed something up, but it doesn't matter already. I don't like Iwashi either.
Although, this very oil corrects almost any herring. It happens that you buy it - and it is salty or harsh, it doesn't go. And twisted it with butter - and very much went. Only sometimes you need a lot of oil ....

Girls, if the author of the topic does not mind much, I will stick with my penny: I often do this on a smear, and if on holidays I stuff it into tea-leaves, or into puff tubes, it turns out a wonderful little ceremonial snack, but the point is not: a big I replace part of the oil with ground walnuts. This chesslovo is much more refined in taste, well, and healthier. The oil is quite sensitive then it goes. Although, probably, it does not become less high in calories, but it tastes good - I highly recommend it!

And what are the approximate proportions?
redcat
For two herrings or mackerels - about a glass of nuts and 50-100 grams of oil (of course, it depends on the fat content - if the mackerel is smoked, then 50, if salted - 100, and maybe even more), something like this

Always welcome - I just remembered whether it is wonderful to wrap this thing in pancakes at Shrovetide or just smear warm ones and chew quickly - it is no less popular than with red caviar. Therefore, for Shrovetide motives, I somehow made such a pancake cake for myself - "ideal pancakes" + this shaving brush in generous layers, and on top of the little bit of caviar I tinted - the guests tore it to pieces. Only onions and greens here are superfluous to my taste, except that lemon slices can be soooooooooo ...

May I also whine here a little for the willows? somehow in the spring I got into a specialized store on Iwashi, grabbed a kilo for joy, so then I gave everything to almost yard cats - such a point that they froze it, which had already been salted, having previously allowed it to "rust" thoroughly. I didn't roll around with THAT ... Especially with Irish, in wine sauce in small jars

Oh, this is no longer a penny, but a whole ruble. My grandmother also made mincemeat, there was onion, and grated apple, and vinegar, if I remember correctly. But this is a completely different recipe, and it is worthy of a separate topic (yes, it probably already exists).

And I do this too, if I have time. They love my caviar just like that. And my husband spreads this butter on absolutely everything: on dumplings, on khachapuri, and yesterday - I look - he smeared it on cheesecake.
