Candied cherry

Ingredients

Cherry 1 kg
Sugar 500 g
Water 100 ml
Powdered sugar for dusting

Cooking method

  • Wash the cherries and remove the seeds.
  • Boil the syrup from water and sugar. (boil)
  • Pour the syrup over the berries and leave for 5-6 hours.
  • Then simmer for 15 minutes (from the moment the fire is turned on) and again leave the cherry for 5-6 hours.
  • Then again, boil for 15 minutes (from the moment the fire is turned on) and immediately put it on the druslyak and leave for 2 hours for the syrup to drain.
  • And finally, roll the cherries in fine sugar. (sometimes I use icing sugar)
  • We spread it on a baking sheet or in any form on baking paper or just in a sieve in one layer and leave to dry at room temperature for 5-6 days.

Note

I dried in the oven at 50 degrees for several days.
I keep it in a locker in a paper bag
Surprisingly, my family really liked it, you just can't force them to eat cherries, but candied fruits for a sweet soul, I don't know if they will live to winter?

DJ, this is super !!! Is the cherry large or does it matter?

Lorik is so lovely, but I didn’t know shikoka cherries, I didn’t know where to put them, I let half into the compote, and threw half into the freezer, but there’s almost no room there, and my parents collected it ... it’s a shame, so I’ll come and I’ll probably study , as I understand it, you can then use candied fruits in baking ???
I just made my cherry pie, now I need to make candied fruits
DJ
leka my cherry was large and fleshy, because of this, it dries for me for a long time. So not a large one is also fully suitable, maybe it will even be better
Svetik_ yes they can be used in baking, and for decorating cakes, and so on under the TV
She gave the recipe per kilogram, and she herself made from 3 kg of cherries (with a bone), it turned out one and a half liter jar of candied fruits

RybkA
Crochet, from the crusts. I still have crusts from two lemons over your apricot jam

DJ, and I just made this recipe !!! True, so far I have left them in syrup for greater saturation. The syrup boiled down normally and became thick like honey. Today I'll heat it up and put it on a sieve, so that it would drain, otherwise it's hard to pick them out of the cold syrup.
DJ
RybkA Great! Just don’t pour out the sire, it may still come in handy
I think when you complete them, you will need to quote this recipe here and insert your photos.
As soon as I get the skins, I will definitely do it too, it's so delicious !!!
DJ
RybkA Well, how did the candied fruit turn out?
RybkA
So ... according to the first quick recipe, the husband has already eaten almost everything, although for me personally there are shortcomings. Let me remind you that I made ONLY from lemon peels:
- the bitterness did not completely go away, a slight note still remained, but not critical;
- very strongly caramelized - at first beautifully, then sugar, although they gave citric acid, and become opaque and not transparent, BUT I don't know how it should be ... maybe this is normal?
- I do not recommend leaving in syrup, the syrup then turns into stone
- I took them out and dried them, did not roll them in sugar.

Now I finish it according to the usual recipe with a three-day soak. If you are at home only for lunch, then changing the water three times a day will be enough. There is absolutely no bitterness! The peels are again lemon.According to some recipes, you just need to sprinkle them with sugar, BUT they absolutely do not give juice (these are not berries), so put only the syrup and cook. I cooked twice, the water evaporates very quickly, so I added a little water again. They have become quite transparent, but not as heavily glazed as in the first version. Now I dry them in the oven.
DJ
RybkA Great! I want without bitterness, so I will do with soaking Thank you for the experience !!!!!
