Millet porridge

  • The groats are poured with milk, simmer in a water bath until fully cooked.

  • You do not need to stir, turn the porridge.

  • There is also no need to stand over the pan - the porridge will never burn or run out of the pan !!!

  • Gradually, the croup absorbs liquid, expands and increases in volume several times, becomes lush and airy inside.

  • Bon appetit to everyone !!!

Today I cooked millet porridge in a milk cooker. The result exceeded all my expectations. For 1 part of cereal washed and poured for a minute with boiling water, I took 4 parts of milk. So it was so swollen ... it was like downy, but delicious!
For myself, this proportion is just right, but since I cooked it for a small child, I had to add a little milk. Next time I'll cook it 1 to 5.
Admin, thanks again for the milk cooker idea. Now porridge is always cooked without problems (especially semolina, oatmeal, and the like). But for 20 years (if not more) it was lying around without even unpacking. How much joy have I missed over the years

Everyone says that they lost their best years ...

Lena, really delicious! And I like these cereals more than in slow cookers (forgive me ...), I cook almost every day! And not so long ago I stopped wondering why it cooks so quickly, the porridge is steamed, and soooooo delicious!

    Lena, to your health!

Tanya, I once again have a question.
It touches all your milk cooker cereals.
After all, you can do them all on the water?
It is clear that the taste will lose from this, but you really need a purely dietary food without milk and other fat contents ...
I just don't want to ask the same question in each of your "porridge" ...)))
    Admin

Porridge is a matter of our taste and food sensations Any porridge can be cooked in water, sweetener, stevia, without sugar, without oil and so on ...

I often replace milk with just water, but I add fresh apple slices to porridge, apricot slices straight from the freezer, dried fruits and so on.

Any food is our fantasy, our taste preferences - go for it!

Yes, Tatyana, just such a porridge and would like. I looked at your rice and millet, too, what you need, grain to grain and airy. But I don't have a milk cooker. There will be time to come and see if we have such a saucepan in our stores.

Tatyana, how many minutes, for example, millet milk porridge is cooked in a milk cooker on a gas stove?
    Elena Bo
After the whistle, I cook for about 30 minutes.
    Lagri
Thanks, I thought longer. My milk cooker has been inactive for a long time, too, I need to use it. I do all the porridge in a slow cooker, but in a milk cooker, too, milk does not run away, so this is also an option ... And cook with the lid closed?
    Elena Bo
Mandatory with a closed lid. See the time for yourself, if you want more boiled, then add 10 minutes.

I will definitely try it now. I took it as a water bath for making infusions. Well, if the porridges are delicious in her, then it's time for her to work ...

I cooked millet milk porridge in 30 minutes (cooked a little). The porridge turned out to be delicious with boiled grains, that's it. I took sterilized milk, because milk does not boil in a saucepan, as I understand it, or how ...? And another question: my milk has become a little boiled down, it is of course washed off and now it is soaked, I would not like it that way. What am I doing wrong? I have a very good stainless steel milk cooker and it definitely has nothing to do with it.
    Elena Bo
Milk is boiled in a milk cooker, that's why it is a milk cooker. The top of the porridge may stick on from the sides, but it is easily washed off if soaked for a short time.

Lena, thanks for the consultation. After all, there was a thing in the closet, almost new, and it came in handy)))

    I welcome everyone! I'm new here :-)
I look at the photos - what fancy milk cookers ... I just have a saucepan with a whistle! and here is the display and the sensor :-)
Well, okay, I'll try it in a saucepan, otherwise it's idle, but I have two kids and a husband :-)
Here's a question - I tried to boil milk once. (That's why I started using it). did not wait for it to rise ... waited a long time ... is it so necessary?
And yet, some kind of whistle on the "snot" (sorry very much) keeps, and flies! Can it be squeezed, or is that all, you won't be able to use it?

wanted to ask, what size is your milk cooker
I have a small one, probably a liter of milk will just go there.
she's an old old one, still made of metal so gray (forgot the name)
I also thought to cook millet porridge for my husband for breakfast, otherwise he loves it, but I don't cook it, as it takes a lot of time. and here I look and quickly and hands are free.
How much porridge and milk can you put on a liter saucepan?
    Elena Bo
The entire volume of milk with cereals should be lower (see 2) water holes. Otherwise, the porridge may escape when the water is boiled away.
    adelinalina
Elena Bo, thanks, and the ratio of milk and porridge 1 to 5?
    Elena Bo
I like thick cereals. This millet for me is 1: 5 just right.
    adelinalina
made porridge in a milk cooker. boiled very well. True, her husband asked what became of her, why she exploded, said that it was tasty not bad. I don't know, maybe I digested it? but it seems that millet cannot be digested, my husband said that his grandfather left him languishing in the oven for the night, and in the morning it turned out very tasty porridge. Maybe this is how it should be?
I also tried a little (I can't dairy now), delicious boiled porridge without grains. Usually, when you cook on the stove without a water bath, it comes out more grains, more like a side dish, and this one is for breakfast.
In general, thanks a lot, I will try again)

Thank you rum. I made it just super. I admire you and your recipes. I will see something new, I run, I buy and cook. Why did all this not interest me before, but now for a year I have been sitting on your website and preparing everything I repeat after you. I admire you . Thank you.

Admin, Elena Bo, dear teachers! I bought a milk cooker for one and a half liters Mayer and Bosch. Cooked oatmeal ... The taste is all right. One thing confuses me: all the time, while the porridge is being cooked, the whistle breaks, whistles ... Is that how it should be? This is a little unnerving ... I don't have any window or display, so I'm still afraid that all the water will boil away. How do you deal with these problems?
    Elena Bo
I turn the gas to minimum after boiling. The whistle is not very loud. The whistle can be removed, but then the water will boil away faster. Water can be added through a spout, but hot, after 15 minutes. This is if you need to cook longer.

orchid (sorry, I don't know the name), thanks for the kind words!
It's always nice to know that my recipes were useful to someone and helped to feed the family deliciously. Cook for health!

After boiling water in a milk cooker, you can and should turn down the fire to low so that the whistle only whistles slowly and does not interfere with its sound. This will be enough for cooking porridge, and it should be cooked over low heat. Then the water will slowly evaporate and it will be enough for the entire cooking cycle. Not enough - you can add a little.

    Millet porridge

Thanks for the recipe! They presented a milk cooker and did not know what to do with it. I think now she will become my best assistant. The porridge is very tasty, well boiled and at the same time loose.

    Natasha, to your health!
Yes, this is the best porridge that is cooked in a milk cooker, without a strong boiling-boiling liquid
I am very glad that you have made a new friend in the kitchen
    biankausa
Oh, what a delicious porridge! Previously, I always had it "prickly" because the grains were torn, but today it is grain to grain. I did it in a slow cooker for 2 hours. The bowl was small, it contained 1 multi-glass of cereal and 2 glasses of milk, so the porridge came out thick. I didn’t add any salt or sugar, but I ate 2 plates.
    Admin

Porridge, any cereal during cooking is softened by a small piece of butter or ghee. I put it together with the cereal, and during cooking the oil is absorbed into the cereal, improves its taste, makes the cereal more tender
