Diseases - for technical reasons

Diseases - for technical reasonsPreviously, it looked like a typical alarmism of people who hate technology. And today doctors are already sounding the alarm louder: modern electronic technology is becoming dangerous to human health. The Association of German doctors serving businesses and offices has even developed a list of ailments that are caused solely by the abuse of mobile phones and computers.

Among them is the "mobile neck", so named not for its autonomous movements, but for the fact that it starts to hurt after a long look at the images on the screens of mobile phones and smartphones. Prolonged downward tilt of the head greatly overstrains the cervical muscles, as a result of which such a “mobile neck” often loses any mobility at all when trying to turn it to the left or right.

And there is also a "mouse hand" that "literally falls off" from office workers after constant and many days of manipulation with a computer mouse.

There are also “SMS-fingers”, which become stiff after overactive exchanges of text messages, as well as other “gifts” from smartphones, which are increasingly taking possession of the minds and hands of citizens. If you look at photos and especially videos in widescreen format on them, you have to hold the device in your hand in such a position that the shoulder and forearm form a right angle. As a result, the shoulder is constantly in an unnatural and tense state, after which joint pain is almost guaranteed.

Here's what the German experts recommend to alleviate the suffering of ardent electronics aficionados.

SMS fingers

The problem arises from frequent and long typing on the telephone keypad, as a result of which the joints of the fingers are heavily loaded and the tendons become inflamed. The pain spreads to the wrists and can trigger tendonitis.

Diseases - for technical reasonsIn such cases, of course, it is necessary to urgently rest the fingers and at the same time resort to anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic ointments. Warm baths are also helpful.

"Mobile elbow"

With frequent and long conversations on a mobile phone in the same position, the ulnar nerve is overstrained, there is a tingling sensation in the hand due to impaired blood circulation and sometimes the hand even goes numb from the elbow to the fingers.

The way out of the unpleasant situation is obvious, but for some reason not everyone resorts to it: change the hand holding the mobile phone and give the injured elbow a long enough rest.

"Mouse hand"

The reason for this phenomenon is the hand that is constantly on the computer mouse and is in a tense state, which, moreover, makes many short and quick movements. As a result, the tendons in the forearm are overstressed, and their inflammation leads to noticeable pain in the wrist. Feelings of tingling and numbness are common.

For prevention, it is useful to use more ergonomic mouse models, use special gels, and to eliminate the consequences, stress-relieving exercises, as well as cold compresses, are recommended.

"Joystick fingers"

The problem arises due to the constant position of the hand and one-sided load on the fingers, combined with a mass of fast and abrupt movements. As a result, damage occurs in the muscle tissue, which then heals, which ultimately leads to hardening of the phalanges of the fingers.

To avoid these unfortunate consequences, it is necessary to pause more often. In addition, some joystick movements can be replaced by keystrokes on the keyboard. The two methods should be alternated more often.

"Smartphone acne (acne)"

Occurs when the smartphone display is pressed to the cheek during phone calls. Bacteria that collect on your smartphone migrate to your face, causing acne and rashes on sensitive skin.

Therefore, smartphones should be disinfected daily, or even several times a day, with special antiseptic wipes or sprays.

It is recommended to use soothing and drying ointments containing zinc to relieve irritation on the skin. In severe cases, you have to resort to antibiotic ointments.
